The Undercroft: A Versatile Secondary Space for Wine Events

The Undercroft can be divided into two spacious rooms for maximum flexibility, complemented by three smaller rooms ideal for staff, VIPs, meetings, or storage.

Our floor plans are designed to help you visualise your wine tasting event layout at St Mary’s. Every wine tasting or private tasting event is unique, and our team will work with you to customise the setup to suit your group size and style.

Please note: trestle tables are included with venue hire, while round tables will need to be arranged separately.

Wine Tastings - Key Information

  • Wine tastings are typically held in the Great Hall - our main event space. The Undercroft provides an intimate and characterful setting suitable for industry talks & masterclasses

  • Capacity depends on your preferred format (seated tasting, standing reception or hosted masterclass). Please contact our team to discuss your guest numbers and layout and please see some examples above.

  • You may use one of our recommended catering partners or appoint your own caterer, subject to a kitchen usage fee. Catering can be tailored to complement your tasting.

  • If wine is provided to guests free of charge, no license is required. If you intend to sell alcohol, a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) license or arrangement with a licensed provider will be necessary. See further information here.

  • Access and pack-down must take place within your booked hire period. Events must finish by 10:30pm, with pack-down completed by midnight.

  • Your booking is confirmed upon receipt of a signed hire agreement and deposit. Our team will support you throughout the planning process.
